Objective of Healthcare Systems in India

1 Mins read

When you study in India, you understand the various health-related challenges unlike those from other developed nations. Therefore, it is imperative to understand how the healthcare system works in India.

The main objective of healthcare is to prevent, treat and manage illnesses and to preserve physical and emotional wellbeing. It is done with the help of the services provided by the nursing, medical and related health experts. Healthcare makes use of all the goods and services for good health. It also includes curative and preventive intrusions which are directed to either the entire population or to individuals as per the World Health Organisation. The systematic provision of such facilities may contribute to a better healthcare system.

Health is termed as a state of social, mental and physical wellbeing and simply not related to the absence of illnesses. It is the sole human right of people and has been given significance by the Constitution with the help of Article 21. It mainly focuses on state governments to protect the nutritional wellbeing and health of people. As far as the central government is concerned, it also has an equal role to play in the health sector. It recognises the crucial role that the health sector plays and the sector confers with the status of the infrastructure as per the Income Act under section 10{23G).

The health industry in India mainly comprises of the following:

• Healthcare providers like hospitals, nursing homes, speciality clinics, and physicians.

• Pathology labs and diagnostic centres

• Manufacturers specializing in healthcare equipment

• Pharmaceutical manufacturers and Contract Research Organizations or CRO
