Will AI Become the Next Great Coder

The first time I wrote code, it took me three hours to fix a missing semicolon.
Frustration, late nights, & endless Stack Overflow tabs…that was the life of a developer.

Now imagine telling that version of me that one day, you could describe what you want in plain English, and an AI would generate the code in seconds.

That’s the reality of generative AI in software development.
→ AI models that auto-complete entire functions, not just lines
→ Debuggers that suggest fixes before you even hit run
→ Systems that learn your coding style and adapt like a true teammate

Does that mean developers are obsolete? Not at all.
It means the role of a developer shifts from writing boilerplate to architecting, reviewing, and guiding AI to build smarter and faster.

Think of it less as replacement, more as augmentation.
The best engineers won’t be the ones who code the fastest, but the ones who know how to collaborate with AI the best.

So here’s the question: in the future, will you call yourself a coder… or a conductor?
