Uses of Remote Patient Monitoring for PCOS Management

PCOS or polycystic ovary syndrome is a common health condition in women that is caused by hormonal imbalance. Symptoms vary from person to person, however having PCOS can increase the risk for high blood sugar, obesity, acne, skin pigmentation, and irregularities in the menstrual cycle.

There is no cure for PCOS but it can be managed with the help of Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM). RPM devices like a blood glucose meter and smart scale can help monitor PCOS. Women with PCOS tend to gain weight due to insulin resistance. Hence, doctors recommend patients lose weight, which can be a struggle for women with PCOS. RPM providers can use connected smart scales, which is a device that allows providers to remotely monitor a patient’s weight. Similarly, a connected glucometer can be used to measure blood glucose levels and the collected data can immediately be transmitted to the providers, who can develop a suitable care management plan.
