According to the World Health Organization “Universal Health Coverage” means that all individuals must secure adequate medical care including prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care without going through financial hardship. The Right To Life is a fundamental right and not a benefit. It should be accorded to everyone regardless of their income, social criteria, or occupation. The Indian government aims to achieve universal healthcare with its two-pronged Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Equipped with Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission as well, India is in the midst of a massive healthcare transformation that has the potential to create an accessible, transparent, affordable, and high-quality healthcare sector. An integrated digital healthcare system that is based on multistakeholder collaboration will improve health outcomes for all citizens. Easy access to healthcare is also important for changing people’s attitudes towards health. From being ‘consumers’ of health products, people must realize their role as participants in the co-production of their own health and well-being.
