IoT-connected Medical Devices- Smart Cane

Visually impaired people usually use canes to help them navigate, but the simple cane has now had a high-tech upgrade. Kursat Ceylan who himself was born blind, invented a smart cane. He set up a tech company WeWALK that creates an electronic handle for the top of a cane. This enables the cane to detect obstacles using ultrasound and give voice feedback to the user. To make mobility more convenient for the users, the cane can be paired with a smartphone and integrated with a voice assistant and Google maps. The user can use WeWALK’s touchpad for quick smartphone control. The cane also includes an ultrasonic sensor that can warn the user about any obstacles via a vibrating handle.

The smart cane works with Android and IOS platforms and features a USB port for charging the battery. It also provides users additional information like the restaurants and shops they pass.
