Impact Of Pandemic On Telehealth: Emerging Technologies

1 Mins read

Telehealth proved to be a useful way to contain the spread of COVID-19. While people had to stay at home to be safe, they monitored their health through various devices. Chatbots were helpful in communication via text/audio. They acted like automated nurses in answering questions. These were powered through AI. They were helpful in terms of alerting people on medication timings, doctor visits, and physical therapies.

Another technology was wearable personal IoT devices that tracked vital signs. These were helpful in alerting people based on signs like heartbeats, oxygen levels, blood pressure, and tracking walks. Some devices even facilitated sending doctors the reports. Other devices used were CGM’s (Continuous Glucose Monitors) which alerted people with diabetes directly through their phones. As a part of the IoT infrastructures, these devices became some of the emerging technologies. There were many such big and small technologies that existed pre-pandemic but gained immense popularity during the pandemic time.
