Healthcare education- The Internet of Medical Things

Tech-enabled advancements transform and reshape all industry segments. The field of healthcare is no exception to this phenomenon. The Internet of Things (IoT) has modified healthcare by offering various applications like medical device integration and remote monitoring. The wave of smart health monitoring systems has significantly enhanced health surveillance and opened the doors for the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT).

IoMT is an ecosystem of smart devices that interact with each other to formulate real-time results, avoiding delays in decision-making and reducing the scope of human errors. While human skills like keen observation and interpersonal skills are paramount in medicine, technological skills and experience are gaining importance too.

Hence, medical students must acquire knowledge about Deep Learning, Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, telehealth, and medical gadgets. They also need to gather hands-on experience in operating the updated technical equipment. By making students tech-savvy, they will be better prepared to deal with unprecedented challenges like the ones we tackled during Covid-19.
