Government-related Initiative- National Medical College Network

1 Mins read

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Govt. of India has established a National Telemedicine Portal for setting up a National Medical College Network (NMCN). This project aims to interlink various medical colleges across India that will serve as hubs to provide tele-education, e-healthcare delivery, and online medical consultation services.

The effort to materialize this project is already underway, as locations for Regional Resource centers and National Resource Centers have been identified. MoHFW has also sent out a communication to all states and Union Territories to give the list of medical colleges that will be networked. Medical colleges have also been asked to nominate a faculty member who would act as Nodal Officer for Telemedicine. Furthermore, under the National Knowledge Network Project, High-Speed Optic Fiber-based Internet bandwidth has been installed in around 150 medical colleges. Information on various online courses, surgical videos, webinars, etc. can be accessed on the National Telemedicine portal.
