The successful use of teleradiology in India started in 1996. It was one by a private enterprise named Jankharia Imaging in Mumbai. Mostly emergency CT scans were transferred from Imaging centers to individual doctors’ homes. The first company for teleradiology in India was Teleradiology Solutions formed in 2022 with Banglore as its base.
There are certain advantages that India has when it comes to Teleradiology which are
-Cost: The cost of an MRI at the best facilities is around 150-170 USD. The fee component is 10-15%. At this rate, the cost of outsourcing becomes affordable.
-Labor: The pay gap between radiologists in India v/s in the US is wide. An Indian radiologist earns between 60,000-80,000 USD whereas the same in the US is around 3,50,000USD.
-Time Gap: As the time gap in India v/s western part is significant, it adds as an advantage for outsourcing radiology tasks.
-Support Staff: India has a talented IT and BPO support system that works in benefit of services sent here.
